The government of Odisha on 4th of May declared the summer vacations for all government and non-government administered higher education institutes and colleges. The Higher Education Principal Secretary, Saswat Mishra, addressed a letter to all the vice-chancellors of the state universities and the principals of the government and non-government colleges that the universities will remain closed for summer vacations from May 5 to 31 in wake of the rising cases for the Pandemic.

The summer vacation is in consonance with the 14 days lockdown imposed in the Odisha state from May 5 to 19. It has been directed to the universities that all the examinations and online classes shall remain suspended during the summer vacations. However, any pre-scheduled viva-voce/ interviews of PhD, and any other such research scholars’ engagements shall not be suspended during the summer vacations.

The summer vacations for the Schools of Odisha are also going to begin from May 5 to May 31. Hence, all schools and higher education institutes and colleges shall remain closed during this period. No examinations and no online classes will be held during this summer vacation period. The examination and physical classes of the institutes and colleges that comes under the higher education department has already suspended from April 19.
