Will Maharashtra cancel HSC class 12th Board Examination, 2021?

Due to the sudden rise in the cases of Pandemic most of the states have either cancelled their board exams or postponed it. Students, teachers and parents from all quarters are requesting for the cancellation of the examination. The students are persistently posting on social media like Twitter for the cancellation of the examination. Students have the grievances that the government is not understanding the pressure, stress and anxiety the students are going through.

Keeping in view the current situation the CBSE has already cancelled the class 10 board examination and rolled out the policy for the assessment of class 10 students which is based on “objective criteria’. The details of the assessment policy of the CBSE are available on their official website www.cbse.gov.in. Following the decision of the CBSE the Maharashtra government too has cancelled the examination of SSC class 10th board. The Maharashtra government said that they too will promote the students to the next academic year based on the assessment policy which will be rolled out very soon. The assessment policy and the date for the announcement of result is yet to be declared by the Maharashtra government.

While cancelling the SSC 10th Board the Education Minister of Maharashtra, Varsha Gaikwad tweeted “The health and safety of our students and teachers is our top most priority”. The HSC exams were scheduled to be held from April 23 to May 21 and the SSC exams were scheduled to be held from April 29 to May 20. But now the SSC board for class 10 has been cancelled by the Maharashtra Government only the policy for the assessment of the result is yet to be declared.

But whether the Maharashtra government will cancel the HSC class 12 board exam is yet to be decided. But if the government cancels the class 12th board exams, then they have to come up with an assessment policy too just like the CBSE has done for class 10th.

The decision for the cancellation of class 12th board exam is still awaited from CBSE and from many other state boards. CBSE has said that they will review the situation on June 1 then accordingly they will take the decision.
