Delhi University is likely to begin its registration process for under graduate courses from 15th of July and CUCET might not be implemented this year because of the pandemic
The acting vice chancellor of the Delhi University P C Joshi has announced that the Delhi University might start the registration process for admission to undergraduate courses from 15th of July. University has taken this decision in view of the decision of the central government to cancel the class 12th CBSE board examination.
University is expecting that by the 15th of July most of the state board would declare their results. 15th of July is a tentative date and it can be postponed also depending upon the dates of the state board results. If the state boards declare their result on time based on the new assessment criteria adopted by them then the admission process in DU can be commenced from 15th of July but if the state boards delayed the class 12th results, then the admission process in DU can be deferred also.
The process of commencing the admission for UG courses completely depends upon the dates of the release of state board results. The university has said that it would follow the “Merit Criteria” devised by the Board for admitting students into the UnderGraduate courses. University is also looking forward to implementing the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), however, this year it seems difficult to implement because it would be a national level entrance examination and we don’t know whether the situation would remain the same through all the states in the country. If the pandemic situation remains different in different cities and states then it would be difficult to conduct the CUCET examination.
So, in the interest of the students, the University might go by the Merit Criteria devised by the CBSE board for admitting students. The date is however tentative but once the school results are out Academic Council of the University will start its discussion process and the final dates will also be declared soon along with the criteria to decide the cut-offs. The University is also expected to follow the online admission process this year 2021 just like it did last year.
