CBSE announces the schools will continue to teach through online classes until the authorities permit in-person mode of classes in school. Efforts will also be made to make internal assessment/practical/project work more credible and valid to ensure fair distribution of marks. As per the new scheme the first exam will be of 90 minutes and the end term exam will be of 2 hours. If the pandemic situation remains unconducive in the period of the first term, then the end term exams will be given higher weightage whereas if the pandemic situation remains unconducive during the end term, then more weightage will be given to the first term examination.
As per the new scheme the internal assessment for class IX-X would include 3 periodic tests, student enrichment, portfolio and practical work speaking listening activities/projects. And for class XI-XII internal assessment would include end of topic or unit tests/ exploratory activities/practicals/projects. The schools are also directed to create a student profile for all assessments undertaken over the year and retain the evidence in digital format.
The board would also provide additional resources like sample assessments, questions banks, teachers training etc. As per the notification the question paper for the examination will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) including case-based MCQs and MCQs on assertion reasoning type. And if the situation of the pandemic forces complete closure of the schools for both the terms, then the results will be prepared on the basis of internal assessment/practical/project work and theory marks of term I & II taken by the candidates from the home subject to ensure the validity and reliability of the assessment.
