Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has finally announced the procedure and method for the assessment of the class 10th Board examination 2021. CBSE has already cancelled the Board examination for class 10th by notification dated 14.04.2021 which was scheduled to be held from 4th May to 7th June. Now instead of conducting exams due to the spike in cases of Pandemic, CBSE has decided to assess the students based on two criteria, first out of 100 marks, 20 percent marks will be allocated through internal assessment and remaining 80 percent marks will be allocated based on the marks students has obtained in the internal examinations of the school like unit test, half yearly, and pre board etc.
The objective of the CBSE is to prepare an unbiased and transparent academic record for which four principles will be applied while evaluating Reliability, Fairness, Flexibility and Validity. Schools have been directed to form a “Result Committee” consisting of Principal and teachers in which 5 will be the school teachers and other two teachers shall be external members co-opted from the neighbouring schools. The schools have also been directed to prepare the result in consonance with the average marks school has obtained in the past three boards exams. The Schools have been directed that the schools should ensure that results should not go below the best overall performance that school has obtained in the past three board examinations. The complete notification is available on the official website of the CBSE i.e., https://www.cbse.gov.in/.
CBSE has also made it clear that any student who is not satisfied with the marks allocated will be given an opportunity to appear in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exam. The Board’s policy of grace marks will also be applied to the students who do not meet the qualifying criterion.
All the Schools have been directed to submit the Internal Assessment marks by 11th of June. The Schools have been directed to submit the marks by 5th June, 2021 so that the CBSE can declare the result on 20th June, 2021.
